Becoming as a Commons

The Collective Body: An Embodied Exploration

3 Day workshop on the transindividual perspective of becoming.

In a time when solitude and individualism often go hand in hand, the desire for collective practices seems to be growing. But what truly forms a collective? What possibilities of collective and individual becoming can we imagine?

Rather than starting with a fixed notion of collectivity, this workshop seeks to explore the forms and dynamics of togetherness that emerge when a diverse group of individuals gathers—like elements in a carrier bag, intertwining and transforming.
What forms of longing and belonging arise? What kind of spaces does this collective require? And what thoughts and theories might surface through this process?
Over the course of three days, we invite you to collectively explore the different notions of becoming as a commons. We will investigate the collective body as a diverse, thinking organism—mapping its movements, sensations, and ways of shaping space and relationality. By engaging with questions of community and individuality, we aim to understand our bodies as vessels of belonging and meaning-making.

The workshop was facilitated in collarboration with artist and performer Sophia Horak.

Presented at the Exhibition Learning InTensions, 10 years of Free Home University, curated by Alessandra Pomarico in Lecce, IT.
